BUTTERFLY PATTERN

LITTLE CROCHETED BUTTERFLY PATTERN

Materials:

Small amount of 100% cotton thread, size # 10, colors 2 different that you choice.
Steel crochet hook, 1.75 mm or size you needed.

Stitches used:
Ch, sl st, dc, tr, cluster

Row 1: Ch 5, join with sl st in 5th ch to form a ring.
Row 2: Ch 5, (3 ch count as first dc), work inside the ring, * 2 dc, 2 ch*, repeat * 7 times, 1 dc join with sl st in third ch. You should have 8 groups of 2 dc, ch 2 sp.
Row 3: Sl st to ch 2 sp, 3 ch (count as first dc), 2 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc, next to ch 2 sp, * 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc*, repeat * 7 times, join with sl st in top of beginning ch 3. You should have 8 groups of 3 dc, 3 ch, 3 dc.
Row 4: * 14 dc ( 3 ch count as first dc), in to ch 3 sp, 1 sc, between shells of previous row*, repeat * 7 times. You should have 8 shells of 14 dc, 8 sc. Cut thread and change the color thread.
Fold your work in half. In drawing A to B.
Now you should have 4 shells, for each side. The top 2 shells are the large wings and the bottom one are the small wings.
Edging Row: Attach white color thread.
Small wings: (right side)*7 sc, sc in each dc of last row, 6 ch, 1 sc in second ch of hook and return with 4 sl st, 7 sc, sc in each dc of last row, 1 sc between shells*, repeat * 2 times.
Large wings: *1 sc between dc’s of previous row, 3 ch, 1 sc next dc’s of previous row* repeat until the next shell. You should have 13 dc, 12 ch 3 for each shell (2 shells).
I join both sides with sc between shells or if you prefer sewing it.
Repeat one more time small wings but only 14 sc (back side) without paws.
Repeat one more time large wings
Body and antennae:
Body: 4 ch, 2 tr join together (cluster st)
Head: 3 ch, 2 dc join together (cluster st)
First antennae: 8 ch, 1 sc in second ch of hook, 6 sl st for return, sl st in top of head and 8 ch for second antennae and repeat like other antennae, sl st in top of head and return with 3 ch, sl st in top of body and return with 4 ch to the start ch.
